This creates significant obstacles in completing housing projects under the existing scheme. The Yashwantrao Chavan Mukta Vasahat Yojana aims to improve the living conditions of nomadic and denotified tribes by providing them with stability and increasing their income sources. Under this scheme, the government will provide each eligible family with 5 gunthas (approximately 5,445 square feet) of land in rural areas and build houses measuring 269 square feet on these plots. The remaining land will be used to offer self-employment opportunities to these families through various government schemes.

The scheme will be implemented in 33 districts of Maharashtra, selecting three villages with a significant population of nomadic and denotified tribes in each district. A total of 20 families from each village will benefit from this initiative.

Terms and Conditions

The scheme is only available to residents of Maharashtra, and beneficiaries cannot transfer the land or house to any other person for any reason. Additionally, the house cannot be rented out.
The land and house will be jointly registered in the names of both husband and wife, except in cases involving widows or abandoned women, where it will be registered solely in the woman’s name.
The land must be used to generate legal income, and beneficiaries are responsible for paying property and water taxes to the local Gram Panchayat.

Amendments and Execution

The scheme allows for certain amendments to accommodate local conditions. For example, if the required one hectare of land is not available for 20 families, the District-Level Committee, chaired by the District Collector, has the authority to relax the land requirement. The scheme also provides financial assistance similar to the Ramai Awas Yojana, ensuring that eligible individual beneficiaries receive direct financial aid through their bank accounts.
