During the warm-up session in the first day at the 2024 Olympic Games gymnast Simone Biles suffered a leg injury. Biles continued to go through her performance and won the competition even with an injured foot.

Biles’s instructor Cecile Landi, also reassured fan who complained about the state of the athlete’s calf saying, “She felt a little something in her calf.”

Biles posted high results raising a top score of 15. 8 on the vault. Combined with her teammates’ high scores, they got the U. S. women’s gymnastics team to the team all-around final on Tuesday where they expect to clinch the gold. The final of the individual all-around is to be held on Thursday.

According to the coach Landi there are no current issues that could raise a question as to whether Biles, is ready for the next events.

The accident happened during a warm up, for the Floor exercise, which is Biles’s second routine in the evening. Their dancer deplaned, strode off the solid ground gingerly, conferred with her trainers, and then momentarily exited the floor. On her return to the field her right ankle and the lower part of her calf was covered with thick athletic tape.

That, however, did not stop Biles from going through her following routines and scoring 15 overall. 8 on the vault. In her mind there was never a doubt of continuing, Landi said.

In qualification round, U. S team women stood as the best team. Among the participant of the women’s initial gymnastics qualifier, two named Jordan Chiles and Sunisa Lee, the later being the defending champion of the all-around in the category, each earned roughly 3. 5 points behind Biles.

“Their aim is very clear – to return with a medal, specifically gold one,” Memmel noted.

Biles was performing in the last spot for three of the Sunday’s rounds and she had the full attention of a crowd of about fifteen thousand people, Snoop Dogg, Tom Cruise and Anna Wintour, and others included, were in attendance mainly to watch Biles’ performance.
